Our pitch

Software for risk assessments

To insert our health and safety risk assessment to the blog we used a website called table editor, this is because we wanted to use more software to make our blog media rich but, we did not always want to use the same websites because that would be boring. To show that we used a website and did not just insert it straight onto the blog, the screen on the right shows the table being made before the html is inserted onto the blog. At the bottom of the screen you can slightly see the beginning of the html code. This website is very useful as it helps organise tables easily and efficiently.

Health and Safety Risk Assessment

Hazards Risk Rating (1-5) Controls
Garden Pathway- Elsie’s garden pathway is slightly broken and some of stones rock if you tread on them. 2 To prevent an accident from happening we will plan where to walk beforehand. This will ensure that we do not take any risks by treading on the broken path.
In a scene there is an oven being used to show how the woman gets on with everyday life. The may cause risk such as burns or injuring yourself. 5 To prevent any burns or injuries we will not actually turn the oven on, it will just be used as a prop.
Alleyway has broken glass and rubbish down. This could cause someone to slip over and hurt themselves. 3 To prevent this accident from happening we can sweep the floor before filming and make sure there is not rubbish down there.
Elsie’s garden steps are quite steep and there is a risk of falling over. 2 To stop this problem from causing an accident we can make everyone aware of the step so that they do not fall over.

Initial Ideas

On this A3 piece of paper we explained our initial ideas for our thriller, these ideas are not final or set in stone we can change or add things at any time. The location of our thriller will be at Elsie's house, as it is a Victorian house it adds to the theme of mysterious and sinister because using a very modern house may not match the theme of our thriller. We decided to film in a house because our woman character is seen doing normal everyday things after the murder, as she is disturbed and it does not phase her that she killed her own husband. We also chose Elsie’s house as she has a cabin at the end of the garden and we have ideas that the husbands body could be down there. We chose to use non diegetic sound in the background because as it makes its sound creepy.

Thriller Mood Board

Thriller Mood Board

  • The pictures we chose for our mood board are very dark and mysterious.
  • They all have dark lighting which gives the impression of fear and intensity.
  • Some of the pictures are of film posters. This will help influence our film poster as all the posters show a face and dark colours are used.
  • The use of blood is also a main theme in the pictures. This represents the gruesomeness of some thriller films, e.g. murders and serial killers.
  • Majority of the images show crime e.g. stabbings and murders.

Introduction to the group

Jasmine, Elsie and Georgia make up the group Jeg Productions. We decided on the name due to the first letter of our names making the word 'Jeg'. We have all been friends since the beginning of the year and decided we would work as a great team together. From this experience, we would like to become closer and stronger as friends, enjoy ourselves and create an Oscar-winning thriller opening. We would love to achieve the best grade we can.
